Hanging Beauties: Quilt Show 2018

OPENING RECEPTION: Thursday April 5 from 6:00-8:00 PM, On display through June 2, 2018

This opening reception is free and open to the public.  Selected from the works of the 100-member Lake Oconee Quilt Guild, this highly-anticipated exhibition features close to 70 contemporary quilts of varying textiles, textures and colors.  Many entries have won awards in prior exhibitions.  All showcase the latest in quilt technology, trends and even size – with one entry as small as 13″ x 13″, others range from lap quilts to the largest measuring 106″ x 106″.  One quilt features the work of three generations of women from a single family; others are considered to be multi-media art tapestries. Included in the show is nationally-known quilter Kay Mouton’s hand-appliqued  Queen-sized quilt “Sugar and Spice”, which is offered as a raffle prize.  Tickets are $1 each or six for $5, To purchase, please call the Steffen Thomas Museum at 706-342-7557.  Museum hours are Tuesday – Saturday from 11 AM to 4 PM.
